New Beginnings Animal Rescue: Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratchers Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The product was for the Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratcher so they went towards the well-being of our cats.

As a cat-only rescue we house many cats every year. We get a fair number of cats who need to live in our condos (as opposed to our free-roam rooms) as singles only. The scratchers help them stretch and get some exercise as well as provide a stress relief while they are waiting for their new home.

I don’t have a specific story, but all I can say is that we give the cats a scratcher (even declawed cats) when they arrive with us. They spend 7-10 days in quarantine and when they are put into one of our rooms for adoption, the scratcher goes with them. They also get to take it home with them. We feel that the scratcher helps re-assure them in whatever environment they are in, and for the cats with claws, it shows the adopter that these guys are scratch trained.
