Penny was a darling little Shih Tzu whom I took in from a county shelter. Turned out she had Addison’s disease and mammary tumors. She was not spayed although already 10 years old. In the process of treating her we had to do injections that cost $42 every three weeks just to maintain her health. In addition, she had 14 large, painful sebaceous cysts removed. Because her mouth was too sore to eat, a dental was also done and she had several extractions. After all medicals were complete, she was adopted into a home with a retired couple who know what it’s like to be a senior.
