Greater Hillsdale Humane Society: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We were able to secure a once-a-week 4X4 pic and article about a dog who is up for adoption at our shelter for all 52 weeks for the $2,000 grant.

The first seven weeks the ads ran (attached), five of the seven dogs were adopted the same week. We are thrilled to be able to adopt these wonderful dogs. Only two, a beagle and a pit bull, were not adopted the same week that the ad featured them.

How many pets did this grant help?

One every week featured in the ads, as well as others who were adopted as people visited the shelter during the week.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Joe, a dachshund/Jack Russell terrier mix, was adopted the same day the pic of him ran in the newspaper. Joe, like most doxie’s, had a stubborn streak and wanted to do things his way. His new mom recently retired, and told us in a follow-up phone call that Joe has taught her compromise and patience and that they have a loving relationship now. He curls up on her lap to get his loving and fits into Mom’s life perfectly. Another forever home!
