Catahoula Rescue of New England: Houlas & Heelers, Inc.: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The products were mailed to all fosters who had dogs in their care.

Over time, many foster have gone through bedding because these dogs have come directly out of shelters or from very sketchy situations and some have never lived in homes and are learning how to. Others are just happy to be in a home! Either way, this helps us continue to help people who are helping us, by providing items to help the dogs.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Tia (first photo) is an Australian cattle dog/hound mix who was saved from Texas, were she was found as a stray and scheduled for euthanasia. This sweet girl, once pulled and in a home, really came out of her shell. She bonds very tightly with people and just wants to please! She LOVES her bed. She has absolutely made it her own! Meet Tia:

Rocky (second photo) was an owner surrender and, at the age of 9 months, had already been through a lot. His people no longer wanted him, as they were divorcing. Prior to that, they had adopted him from a local shelter that had brought him up from Texas. Upon our group taking him into rescue, we found out he had heartworm. This poor chap, in a very short time, went through a lot. I can happily report that once Rocky was in foster care, his foster (a vet tech) had a family member who fell in love with him and adopted him!
