Fairy Tails Rescue: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Pet beds for the cats and dogs in our rescue to help keep them a little warm and more comfortable, especially during these cold winter months here in the Northeast.

We are a small rescue that takes in local owner surrenders. Because we are small and still a young rescue (not quite two years old), donations are limited, especially during this time of COVID. Having these extra-special pet beds to give to the pets in our care has been an enormous help.

How many pets did this grant help?

We are still in the process of delivering them to the pets in need, but we were granted 10 total.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The first pet bed was distributed to Mrs. Peabody. She is an 8-year-old cocker spaniel mix that came into rescue on Christmas eve after her owner passed away. Mrs. Peabody came to us with a large tumor hanging off her back end. When we brought her to the vet for a check-up and vaccines and to assess the tumor, they did blood work as well. The results of the blood work indicate that she is in the beginning stages of kidney failure. We immediately put her on prescription food to help support her kidneys and gave her a P.L.A.Y. Chill Pad to help make her remaining days just a little more comfortable.
