Passion for Pets Rescue: Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Orvis grant was used to help stray and abandoned dogs and puppies in Mississippi become adoptable animals in Maine.

All dogs and puppies that we save need extensive vetting, not only in order to get them healthy for transport to Maine but also once they arrive. We cannot thank the Petfinder Foundation and Orvis enough. Your help makes it possible for us to save and home many more animals who would be either euthanized in overcrowded southern shelters, killed or starved.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Petey is a 2-year-old Shar Pei. He was found in a ditch on the side of the road in Mississippi. His eyes were infected and crusted shut. His skin was red and covered in scabs. Despite everything this sweet boy had been through, he loved everyone and everything. He was treated for a skin infection, a corneal ulcer and irritation due to entropion. Petey is now in Maine. He has to be one of the sweetest dogs we have ever taken in to Passion For Pets Rescue. He is now up for adoption and we believe will be adopted by a wonderful family with a Shar Pei looking for a playmate. Meet Petey:
