Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The money was spent on food and a new bed for Ginger Ridgely. She's a little senior beagle who's been in foster care for close to four years now. It's not because we're not trying to find her a home, but because the market is not so good for 10-year-old, cast-aside hunting dogs.
Every donation helps, no matter how small. Our vetting bills are huge since the main focus of our rescue is senior, sick and neglected beagles -- the ones other rescues leave behind.
How many pets did this grant help?
Just one: Ginger Ridgely.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Here is the note we sent to the donor: My name is Ginger Ridgely, the rescue dog from Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland whom you sponsored through the Petfinder Foundation. I wanted to thank you so much for sponsoring me and let you know how much it helps. I am in a foster home in Virginia and I am doing really well. When I first came to the rescue, I needed surgery and had heartworm! The rescue took care of all that for me and found me a nice foster home where I have a beagle foster sister and two little kids of my very own. Now I am doing so much better and I feel safe and loved while I wait for my forever home. I attached a picture my foster mom Kathleen took of me today. I had a hard time sitting still for her to take the picture, but she said it was important, so I did the best I could. Unfortunately I just couldn’t stop my tail from wagging, so it’s a little blurry there!
Thank you again. It was no nice of you.
Love, Ginger
