Allegany County Animal Shelter: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the money to help pay our vet bill. As I am sure you know, most shelters and rescues run a tab with the local vets, so it was nice to have this money to pay for the care of our shelter animals during such uncertain times.

It enabled us to pay our vet, maintain a strong working relationship and be able to provide care as necessary to our shelter animals.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Rocky was a small dog who came to us in horrible shape: He was emaciated, missing the majority of his fur, and showed signs of an untreated skin condition. It has taken months of medication, blood work, skin biopsies, etc., but Rocky is now finally starting to regain growth of his fur, his weight has improved, and his skin is slowly starting to heal. The best news is that Rocky’s foster mom fell in love with him and has officially adopted him. She continues his daily medicated baths, medications and follow-up vet appointments. Rocky is finally in the loving home he deserves.
