Westfield Homeless Cat Project: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This $1,000 grant helped us adopt approximately 40 cats and kittens by offering a reduction of $25 off the fee per adoption.

This reduction in fee enabled some of our adopters to afford to take two kitties, which we were thrilled about! This marathon week with the fee reduction enabled us to make more room in our shelter to take in more cats and kittens who need a good home!

Without the support of organizations like the Petfinder Foundation, managing the rising costs of operating a shelter would be extremely difficult. We are forever grateful for your support, and we value our relationship with the Petfinder Foundation. Thank you!

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Meet Tiny Tim (first photo). As you can see, Tiny Tim is living the good life as a pampered housecat, where there is never a shortage of yummy food, fun toys to play with, and warm beds in which to take luxuriously long catnaps. There are even plenty of sunbeams in which to catch a few rays.

But that wasn’t always the case for Tiny Tim. For many, many months, he lived the life of an unwanted stray. He never knew where or when he would get his next meal, was always seeking refuge, and was prey to the weather, busy streets, and other animals. For a long time, no one cared about Tiny Tim, and he feared every day would be his last.

That is, until the good people from the Westfield Homeless Cat Project intervened. They took him in and immediately arranged for a veterinary exam. Tim’s days on the streets had taken a toll: He was infested with fleas, ticks, worms, and ear mites.

But WHCP was not deterred — nor was Tiny Tim. While his living conditions had been poor, his personality was undaunted. He remained a sweet and gentle soul and put his trust in WHCP. He received the appropriate medical attention.

He recently found a wonderful adoptive home, where he has blossomed even more, becoming chatty and playful — and loved. At long last, he is safe and adored and a beloved member of his family. And he is the purr-fect picture of health.

Tim’s success is due to the generosity of organizations such as the Petfinder Foundation, who believe that every animal deserves a loving home and a happy life.

Tiny Tim’s photo is attached. Some of our other kitties looking for their forever homes can be found on and on our Facebook page.
