LA 4 Animals Foundation: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the money to pay for spay and neuter, vaccines, medical treatment and transport of 20 dogs in a hoarding case from Lancaster. We also rescued an additional five more -- four from the street and one from Downey [open-admission] shelter.

Without funding, we simply cannot do this lifesaving work. The pets in our care were able to get all their needs met to start new lives.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We went into the hoarding case and started by pulling out all the females, to stop the procreation! Pixie is a sweet girl who was being fostered by a wonderful couple. I got a call after a couple weeks: Pixie was pregnant! The couple were so sweet; they decided they wanted to see her through the pregnancy and help adopt out her pups. They took her to a great vet for ultrasounds and care. After their bonding, of course they could not give her up. Pixie remains with her foster heroes, Mike and Sally!
