How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Bedding and toys for socialization/enrichment

The beds are wonderful for the dogs to decompress on when they first come into rescue. They are cozy and often are the first soft place to lie on and relax that they have ever had. The squeak bones are the perfect size for solo play as well as group play. They are soft so puppies don't harm their tender mouths and adults love the size. They are perfect for all sizes. They are durable and wash well for sanitizing between pups. The beds and toys came sealed, so they were perfect to give to new fosters who, during this pandemic, may be concerned about contamination from one home to another. It's like P.L.A.Y. thought of everything!

Sammy came in terrified. He whimpered and cried literally nonstop. We gave him one of the soft beds and he curled up and fell asleep. It was the first time he had a cozy, warm safe place so he could relax. At first, any noise would send him into a fear-filled fit. We introduced him to the soft bone toy and he immediately loved snuggling with it. We were then able to squeak it and desensitize him to the noise because it was already a beloved toy.
