Ashland Animal Rescue Fund: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

AARF used the generous award to purchase items to promote dog adoptions and transports to our rescue partners in other states. AARF purchased a new, large tent for adoption events and fundraisers, large and extra-large wire crates for adoption events, large plastic transport carriers, and new water bowls and bottles.

These items help promote dog adoptions and keeps the animals comfortable on those hot summer days! Our tent provided much-needed shade for the volunteers and animals, as well as attracted attention to our event. The dogs kept cool in their new wire crates, and they stayed hydrated with new water bowls/bottles. Our transports are essential in adopting dogs, so having the transport carriers are a necessity. Additionally, we use these carriers to transport dogs to the vet.

How many pets did this grant help?

The transport carriers help approximately 50 dogs per month. The tent and wire crates assist at adoption events, where we usually have about 15-20 dogs available each weekend for adoption.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of our residents, Hoss, benefitted from this award. Hoss is a 5-year-old Australian shepherd mix who suffers from hip dysplasia. Due to his medical condition, we are always hesitant to bring him to PetSmart. With the new tent and crates, we knew Hoss would be more content and have the comfort he required. Hoss loved getting to go to PetSmart and receiving lots of attention! We hope his forever family will adopt him soon. Meet Hoss:
