Ashland Animal Rescue Fund: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We currently have 39 cats in our facility. Our region is overpopulated with cats and, because of that, our adoption rate is very low. Sadly, many cats remain at the kennel for months (and sometimes years) before they are adopted or receive any type of interest.

This grant has allowed us to purchase various interactive toys, games, and wall hangings to keep them stimulated, as well as prevent them from becoming bored. We know cats sleep a lot, but these new items will greatly enrich their daily lives and increase their activity levels with many new things to explore.

The wall hangings have taken things to a whole new level (literally). The cats were so excited to see what was in each box as it was delivered. I mean, who doesn't love getting an Amazon package, right?

How many pets did this grant help?

The 39 we currently have in our care, plus all new intakes we accept into the program.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sadie has been with us since February of 2022. She is a beautiful black-and-white long-haired girl who free roams in our lobby.

She was the first one to jump in the box to check out all the new toys. Unfortunately, she has not been adopted yet, but we know her day will come. We just have to be patient. And thanks to this grant and all the items we were able to purchase, she will be entertained while she waits for her forever home.

Again, thank you for choosing us and our kitties to receive such an amazing gift.
