How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The donation of Wahl shampoo was (and is) being used to bathe our dogs upon intake and throughout their stay at The Animal Care Society. This makes them clean, which makes them feel better, and also look better, which makes them more adoptable.
This grant of Wahl shampoo is helping our organization because we do not have to go out and buy shampoo to bathe our dogs. When an animal comes into the shelter, he or she is often dirty, smelly, has fleas, has mats, etc. This grant helps us bathe our incoming dogs, which makes them happier and more adoptable.

Attached are photos of Cosmo, a Shih Tzu/Pug puppy who came to The Animal Care Society several months ago. Cosmo is adorable and a desirable breed, but because his previous owners neglected to socialize him, he is a special little guy who is going to need a patient and understanding home. Cosmo is very fearful of new people and situations and will bite out of fear. For the past couple of months, however, he has been going home in the evenings with one of The Animal Care Society’s staff members and slowly but surely learning how to trust new people and tolerate new situations. He is not as fearful of new situations and has learned how to “sit” and “come.”
Cosmo, as a Shih Tzu/Pug mix, has a strange type of hair that becomes oily very quickly and looks like he hasn’t had a bath in weeks when it’s really only been a few days. With this grant of Wahl shampoo, he has been receiving regular baths that make him smell fresh and clean. They also make his fur softer and make him look nicer overall. We are hoping that with his new training, trust, and clean appearance, Cosmo will find his furever home by Christmas. If not, he will enjoy the perks of living at The Animal Care Society (such as getting his Wahl shampoo baths) until he finds that perfect furever home — no matter how long it takes. Thank you.
