Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter: Disaster Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This money was used to pay for a lease for a temporary building so that we could stay operational for the animals in our community.
This allowed us to be open for the four counties and general public that we serve. Without this our doors would have been shut and many animals would not have had a place to be.
How many pets did this grant help?
411 animals have come thiugh our doors from 12/17/2013-1/31-2014 341 dogs and 70 cats
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
This is Big John. He is a 3 yr old Great Pyrenees mix. He came to our shelter from Animal Control. When he first arrived at the shelter he was very afraid of a lead and would not walk on a lead. Our staff has worked with him and he is doing great. He is being vetted and will be leaving onto transport Wednesday February 4th 2014 with Wagging Hearts out of Chicago Illinois!!! We have been so grateful to have the opportunity to save more lives!
