Regina's Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kia Pet Adoption Grant helped Regina's Rescue provide free pet adoptions. This grant funding removed the adoption costs and allowed adopters to bring home a new member of their family. Regina's Rescue's Kia grant funding helped our rural community reduce the number of animals being held in [open-intake] shelters by getting them adopted and matched to new families.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Meet Dusty: loaded with fleas, ticks, and a worms, he had been stuffed in one of the smallest cat crates ever seen and dumped.

When Regina’s Rescue volunteers opened it, one of the cutest puppies ever was staring out. Regina’s Rescue immediately got busy to save him; we vetted and vaccinated Dusty and gave him medications for fleas, ticks, and worms.

Every day, Regina’s Rescue volunteers would take Dusty out of his kennel and walk him to the outdoor playpen, where he would spend his day playing and exploring. When volunteers would take breaks by the playpen, Dusty would work to engage them and get them to play with him.

Well, it worked: He packed his doggie bag and took a seat in the car on the way to his new home. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation-Kia grant, for making it possible to bring Dusty to his furever home. Dusty is now living his best life with his new family and doggy sister.
