Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KIA Pet Adoption Grant supported Always and Furever's mission of finding each and every pet a forever family. These vital grant funds supported families with free pet adoptions and helped Always and Furever adopt over 50 dogs and cats during this grant cycle.

Families were so excited that they could focus on their new family member and spend their money on good food, beds, collars, and treats for their new furry friend.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Eloise (first photo) was found trapped in a hoarding house with 32 other dogs (second photo). The owners had divorced some time ago and only visited occasionally to drop off a jug of water and toss them some food. The dogs weren’t fixed, so they kept breeding as time went on, resulting in 33 dogs and mountains of trash.

Rescues combined efforts to help the pups and we wound up with seven of them, including little Eloise. We got her spayed and vetted, although Eloise still had lingering neurological issues, most likely due to her upbringing, which cause her to have difficulty seeing and walking in straight lines at times.

Eloise didn’t let this stop her, though, and was the sweetest, bounciest little girl. She stole her new mom’s heart at one of our open-house events (third photo) and the rest is history!
