Four Legged Ranch: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant helped our rescue dogs in the barn. We have most of our dogs in foster homes, but those who need a little extra care stay at the barn, which is fully heated; the dogs are in kennels with volunteers coming in and out daily to help socialize them all. We are so grateful for the beds -- we have seven dogs at the barn and they were in need of new ones!
The beds we did have were falling apart. So when we applied and received the grant for the beds we threw our paws up and were so happy and thankful!
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
One of the beds helped a special dog named Hercules (first photo). Hercules came from Chicago and was very skinny and had bad skin (second photo). He was in a foster home and then came to the barn.
When the beds arrived, he almost seemed thrilled to have one that was especially for him. He is a mastiff-mix size and when he would lie on it, then it seemed to fit.
Hercules was adopted last weekend! A doctor who was in Indiana for Thanksgiving put in an application and met him and fell in love (third photo).
Hercules now lives at the beach in Virginia (fourth photo). He now has dog friends in his family, and the bed stayed to help a new dog who may need that extra help!
