Humane Society of Scott County Indiana: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The KONG toys were given to new dog adopters. We know that when a dog is first placed in a home, they are scared and confused. The KONG toys offer the dog something to do while transitioning into their new home. The toy was given in hopes of calming the dog's fears and to allow them to let their anxiety out on the KONG toy.

The KONG toys helped with dogs transitioning into their new homes. The easier the transition into new homes, the happier the new adopters and the Humane Society. The donated KONG toys saved us money by our not having to purchase the toys.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had one rescue dog who was super shy and did not want to be around humans. He was given his KONG toy with peanut butter every day by his adoptive mom. This once-shy dog came out of his shell and began to trust the adoptive mom.
