Fetching Tails Foundation: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used our $1,000 COVID-19 Operations Grant to fund rabies and DHPP vaccines for new adult-dog intakes in June and July 2020.

This grant helped Fetching Tails Foundation cover vaccination costs for adult dogs for two months (21 dogs in June and 29 in July), which allowed us to focus the funds we usually would have spent on additional medical care for rescued dogs in need. We were able to take in a handful of heartworm-positive dogs and a dog with injuries caused by being hit by a car because of the extra funds we had available.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Little Trooper is a tiny terrier mix who was hit by a car and left by the side of the road in July. We were able to rescue him immediately and take him to our vet, where he was hospitalized for a week with internal injuries and a leg injury.

Thanks to our vaccines being covered by the Petfinder Foundation grant (including Little Trooper’s vaccines), we knew we had extra funds available and time to raise more for Trooper’s expensive hospital stay.

After a few days of care, he improved, and by the time he moved into his foster home, he showed his spunky, mischievous spirit! He was a funny little guy with a BIG personality and he was adopted in early September to a family that will continue to help him blossom and thrive.
