St. Sophia's Forgotten Felines: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
It was a $25 sponsorship that went towards our cat Marty's medical bills.
Marty received a sponsorship through the etfinder Foundation. He is an FIV+ cat and recently had some issues with inflammatory bowel disease and chronic herpes infections. The funds went towards his health care in treating both of these issues (which have now been resolved).
How many pets did this grant help?
This sponsorship was specifically for Marty and benefited him directly.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Marty is a wonderful FIV+ cat who came to St. Sophia’s from a down-state high-volume, [open-admission] animal control that is unable to care for FIV cats (and had him scheduled for euthanasia). Knowing that FIV is not a death sentence (nor a reason to isolate him from other cats), St. Sophia’s took Marty in. Because his immune system is compromised, he often has herpes infection flare-ups with his eyes requiring antibiotics and drops. He also recently had issues with inflammatory bowel disease that needed treatment, and this sponsorship helped with his healthcare. Marty is still available for adoption, and his profile on Petfinder is available here: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/34817157
