One Tail at a Time: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our $1,000 grant was used to provide 80 pets with heartworm, flea, and tick preventative.

One Tail at a Time provides all pets in our foster program with heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives while in our care. On average, there are 250 dogs and cats in our foster program any day of the week. Many of these foster pets are in our care long enough to require multiple months of preventative medicine.

Since COVID-19, One Tail at a Time's monthly animal intake has doubled and this grant helped us keep up with the much higher demand for preventatives. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation, all of our rescued pets continue to receive their heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives on schedule!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Adoptable Lady not only responds to her name, but truly and undeniably lives up to it! She is a very well-mannered gal who was made for quarantine, choosing to spend most of her days napping and hanging out on her dog bed.

Since Lady came to One Tail at a Time heartworm-positive, the grant we received from the Petfinder Foundation has helped keep her healthy while she waits for a forever family of her own!

Lady prefers to be in the same area as you so that she does not have to walk too far to receive a scritch on the neck every once in a while. Though she doesn’t shy away from a leisurely walk through the neighborhood, Lady is a gal who appreciates a well-working AC system (don’t we all, though?). She knows basic commands (sit, wait/stay, come) and does great in her crate. This gal is so sweet and can’t wait to crash on a comfy couch of her own!

Meet Lady here.
