PAWS Humane Society: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thank you for the Covid-19 Operation Grant! It helped us to keep up with the demand for kitten food, nursing bottles, and goat's milk for our increased number of kittens saved. We also ran out of cat litter at our rescue and were able to purchase more with this grant.

This grant enabled us to not turn away kittens who needed help. Our county shelter closed for three months, which put the entire burden on the two rescues in town. As a result, the numbers needing rescue increased substantially. This grant provided the needed supplies for the many bottle babies and small kittens taken in.

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 100

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Lucy was a homeless cat who was safely live-trapped by one of our volunteers on April 21, 2020. We knew she’d had kittens recently. Lucy was put into one of our foster homes along with her six newborns. They all thrived as the foster supplemented feeding for the family since Lucy couldn’t keep up. The supplies provided by the grant helped the foster mom assist Lucy by using the goat’s milk, bottles, and Miracle Nipples bought with these monies. Lucy was adopted on June 15, 2020, and her six babies have also found homes!
