PAWS Humane Society: Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratchers Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We are using the product in our Adoption Center located in Petco. Each of our 13 cages has a scratcher in it. With each adoption, the scratcher goes with the kitty and a new one replaces it.

The ability to scratch and stretch helps the cats with training them to use correct scratching areas and also is a stress reliever for some. The adopters really appreciate the scratcher going home with them also.

How many pets did this grant help?

We adopt approx. 40 cats per month and each one went home with the scratchers.

Maise is a really shy 7 month old cat. She rarely looks animated or moves about her cage except…..when she gets up to stretch & scratch on her scratcher! She is quite active and scratches for quite awhile, really seeming to enjoy it! Anything that helps the cats during the period until they find their Forever Home is so appreciated….
