Peoria County Animal Protection Services: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Monies were used for increased operating expenses required to house animals for an extended length of time in foster homes and at the shelter. Help with food costs was wonderful at a time when revenues are down.

We were able to house animals with no time limits thanks to the extra $500 in funding for food costs.

How many pets did this grant help?

Approximately 25

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Mac (first photo) and Mittens (second photo) have been in foster with a volunteer family since the middle of March. They are a 4-year-old bonded pair of cats who, without funding for added food costs, we may not have been able to keep. With your support, we have been able to continue to care for our harder-to-place foster animals until suitable homes can be found.

Meet Mac here.

Meet Mittens here.
