Almost Home Foundation: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This $1,000 emergency grant enabled us to provide an expensive TPLO surgery to one of our dogs we rescued. Dante, a bulldog mix, came to Almost Home Foundation after being hit by a car. It was further discovered that he had an old injury that required corrective surgery. The surgery cost approximately $3,000. Because of this grant, we were able to provide this medical care to Dante and he is doing wonderful!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Dante had a very rough start in life. Poor Dante was hit by a car and as a result, had a torn CCL (similar to the ACL in humans) and a pronounced limp. It was touch and go for a while after he was hit, but this incredible fighter pulled through.

It was then discovered that he had an additional old injury and needed a more extensive surgery (a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy or TPLO). With this grant, we were able to schedule his surgery on Sept. 21, 2022.

Dante is currently recovering in his foster home and is regaining mobility through physical therapy. His foster home has fallen in love with him and is scheduled to adopt him on November 12, 2022!
