How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We purchased three universal microchip scanners.

We have a policy to scan animals at least three times while in our care: Once when they are impounded, second while they are getting a health check and third upon disposition. We had some scanners at the shelter that were not universal and it was too easy to miss one of the newer chips.

How many pets did this grant help?

We receive approximately 4,000 animals a year. We also have many animals that we see where citizens have found a stray and we scan for the chip.

We just got the scanners a couple weeks ago and I don’t have any particular story to tell. I have however attached a press release that we did for the grant.
