Priest River Animal Rescue: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money that we received was to purchase five cat towers and cubes in various sizes, an exercise wheel, and hanging cat scratchers for our feline kennels.

The cat towers replaced our old ones, as they were in disrepair. The new towers and cubes provided multiple safe havens for our adult cats in their playroom, along with the option to explore the exercise wheel.

The hanging cat scratchers are placed in each cat's kennel when they arrive at our rescue. This encourages natural scratching behaviors and the use of appropriate scratching tools.

How many pets did this grant help?

So far this grant has helped 118 pets and we are still taking in cats each day.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This grant helped several cats in our adult community room.

Glory came to our rescue in June. She was pregnant and immediately went into foster. After weaning her kittens, she came back to the rescue and was placed in our adult-cat playroom.

Glory was an active cat who had a lot of energy and spunk! As soon as she saw the exercise wheel, she immediately hopped on it and it was like she already knew what to do. She started walking and when the wheel moved, she went faster! We all knew when Glory was on the wheel when we heard her in the office, running and having a blast!

Due to her being active and hopping on the exercise wheel in front of a potential adopter, she went to her fur-ever home that very day!
