MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This money was used to purchase a Shor-Line Elite Grooming Shower to replace an old and outdated bathtub.

This grant will allow us to wash dogs and keep them clean and pretty for potential adopters. Our old dog-washing area was very difficult to get dogs in, and was hard on the staff. It required lifting large dogs 4 ft. off the ground (second photo). With the new dog wash (third photo), dogs can walk right in for bath-time! We know this will make grooming our shelter dogs much easier and safer. We feel that clean dogs will attract adopters and lead to more adoptions. This helps us provide the best care to our shelter dogs.

How many pets did this grant help?

The nearly 300 dogs we care for each year

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Pictured is Tootsie. From her Petfinder profile: “Tootsie is a lovely girl who has had a bit of a rough start to life. At only 11 months old, she has been bounced through two separate homes and now she’s found herself here at the shelter. Understandably, she is a bit unsure of herself and of new situations. She just needs a little bit of time to warm up to new people and places and then she is a very sweet, playful, and affectionate dog. We think she’d do best in a home without young kids, but would really love to have an older, well-adjusted doggy friend who could let her know that she doesn’t have to be worried anymore! Tootsie definitely does better with women than men, so single ladies, this one is for you! Please stop by the shelter or give us a call for more information on Tootsie girl.” Meet Tootsie: https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/32045917/

We have not yet installed this product, but we will next week if everything goes according to plan. I’d love to email some photos once it is installed of pets using the new wash station. We just wanted to be sure to get our end of grant report in as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your support!
