MCPAWS Regional Animal Shelter: Cat Chow Building Better Lives Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant money was used to promote our Free Cat Friday adoption days and supplement free and reduced cat adoption fees.

We have been able to promote Free Cat Friday through placing an ad in the local paper, printing posters and social media advertising. We have also offered certain special cats at no adoption fee, which has helped them find forever homes. We will continue to promote Free Cat Friday and offer reduced adoption fees on certain cats.

How many pets did this grant help?

We have so far found homes for 26 cats since receiving this grant.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Zoltan was a large 5-year-old black cat who had been at MCPAWS for over a year. He came to us last October as a stray. He was a sweet cat with no health or behavioral issues. Everyone loved him, but no one wanted to adopt him. We do have a lot of black cats, and everyone wants kittens. Thanks to the Purina Cat Chow “Building Better Lives” Grant through the Petfinder Foundation, Zoltan, now named Buddy, found his forever home. We are so happy for this sweet boy! Thank you so much for your support of our shelter animals!
