C.H.A.M.P.S. in Chubbuck, Inc.: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The vaccinations are being used to vaccinate adoptable animals transferred to our organization from shelters. We also use them to update vaccinations of those animals in our foster program who are awaiting adoption.

The grant has saved our organization money by providing necessary vaccinations for adoptable animals that would normally have to be paid for at a veterinarians office. The animals have benefitted from this grant by receiving the necessary vaccinations needed to keep them healthy.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Avalon has been in our program since September of 2012. Our organization pulled her from our local shelter when she ended up on their euthanization list because of her age and space limitations. Once we looked into her background we found out that she was actually adopted from the shelter she ended up in, when she was just a kitten & that her owner had been born in 1914. She was brought to the shelter, as a stray, by someone who said she had been hanging around their house and did not seem to have a home. rnConsidering her story we determined that her owner had probably passed away and she was left with no where to go. ArnWe tried to put her in our adoptable kennels at our local PETCO but she did not do well in there. So we put her in a foster home and although we had a couple of inquiries about adopting her, nothing seemed to come of it. So here she was one year later and living in a second foster home when finally the foster family decided they loved her too much to let her go and decided to adopt her. Because she had been with us for a year her upper respiratory shots had come due prior to her adoption. Because of the Grant we were able to vaccinate her at no charge and she is happily living with her forever family.rnWe have also been able to provide vaccinations for the following animals: Iris, Alister, Poppy, Lavender, Kairee, Sonic, Q-bert, Zelda, Princess Peach, Ralph.
