Last Hope Animal Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toys are used for our dogs at our adoption center to play with and entertain them.

We have used the Kongs for enrichment for the dogs in our care. Volunteers fill the Kongs with treats and peanut butter and the dogs love to play with them and eat from them.

One of the dogs that this grant helped is Punk (first photo). He has some stress in the kennel environment, and having a Kong to play with and eat from helps entertain him and reduce his stress level. From his Petfinder profile: “My name is Punk, but I go by Punkie or Punkin. Don’t let my name fool you — I’m a sweet boy! I’m a people-lover, potty-trained and I know ‘sit,’ ‘speak,’ and ‘down’ and I love to play catch. I seem to be okay with cats and just about every other animal I meet, although if I could pick, I’d like a home either by myself or with a mellow female about my age and size. I’ve gone through two obedience classes and I’m very treat-motivated and want to please my people. Obedience class really helps my self-esteem and makes me a proud dog. I have also done doggie daycare and like socializing with the dogs in a big group. I need an owner who has experience with dogs, and who will enjoy playing catch with me and teaching me new commands. I would be best with kids 12 and older.” You can meet him here.
