How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant and training have educated me to look beyond what is seen outwardly in an individual when deciding whether they would be a good fit for one of our animals. I learned that, even though I thought I was doing a good job at staying neutral and understanding everyone's situation, I could do better.

We had a family that had applied for a puppy that had been going through a rough time and had come from a rough past in a different part of the country.

In our area, we are not used to different cultures and ways of life such as this family, so I was quick to judge. After this training, I was more able to understand that they were very capable of loving this puppy, they just needed someone to give them the chance.

This puppy has been adopted!
