How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This KONG grant was used to add joy to the lives of our homeless pets. We filled each one with peanut butter, cheese, treats and catnip, froze them overnight, and distributed them to each pet the next day. Our animals were in heaven! KONGs offer kennel enrichment; satisfy the need to play, chew, and engage; and keep minds sharp and occupied. They also have a calming effect on the pets, which is always a good side to be seen by potential adopters. Thank you!

One dog in particular, Olivia, a lab-pit bull mix, was always a bit cranky when people got too close to her cube. She never snapped or lunged, but she would snarl a bit as she turned away from potential adopters. But the day she got her frozen peanut butter KONG treat, she was in seventh heaven, and much calmer and more approachable to visitors. She has since been adopted!
