How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toys were used to give the stronger dogs more durable toys to play with while they are in our care.

We usually have several pit bulls in our care at any given time and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting these beautiful dogs can attest to the fact that play a little rough and can easily destroy any toy in a matter of minutes! With the Kong toys, especially the heavy-duty black variety, they can play for longer without us having to worry about them swallowing pieces of plastic or fabric that could cause them internal harm. We have to be careful of this so that no animal is harmed while in our care, or goes to a new home with an unknown blockage that could leave a new owner with high vet bills or worse.

Nook came to our shelter after bouncing to three different homes in his short seven months. Like any pup, he’s a rambunctious fella and could make quick work of any toy we gave him! The Kong toys we received were perfect for him. He could have hours of fun without ruining his toy in the process, and with the hidey hole for treats, they are even better than conventional dog toys.
