Animal Lifeline of Iowa: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money was used for the care of Rolex, a terrier mix in ALI's care.

Rolex came to ALI with severe glaucoma that could no longer be treated with medication. Rolex underwent two surgeries to remove his eyes. The grant helped with these expenses.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

From Rolex’s Petfinder profile: “I was originally a stray in southern Iowa and was adopted and then the family returned me because I was nipping at the children and my family couldn’t afford to care for my eyes. (They were causing me a lot of pain and that is why I was nipping at the kids.) I was diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes. My left eye was much worse and it was removed in June 2016. My right eye wasn’t as bad and the doctor thought we could help it with medication. I was adopted on July 5 and my people brought me back because I was not being nice to the cat in the house. In addition, they found out that my right eye was in bad shape and was going to need to be removed. It was removed on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.”

Update Feb. 5, 2017: “We are so happy to report that Rolex found his forever home and family on Saturday — an early Valentine for Rolex and all of us that have loved him at the shelter.”
