tx264: A Shot at Life Vaccination Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We were able to vaccinate all of our incoming cats and dogs before adopting them out to new homes.
We were able to save the cost of vaccine and use the money for other things. The pets all received age appropriate vaccinations upon arrival and if they had not been adopted out within two weeks they were re vaccinated.
How many pets did this grant help?
We vaccinated all incoming cats, kittens, puppies and dogs. Approx. 25 cats and 50 dogs.
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
We came to work one morning to find 5 Australian Shepherd/Border collie puppies thrown over our fence (nothing new). We ended up keeping the two mostly border collie puppies forever. They were beautiful pups, but everyone thought they were only good for cattle dogs. During their stay with us they received a series of 3 DHLP/Parvo shot. Normally the new owner is responsible for followup vaccinations after we give the first one, but these guys were finally adopted out and they were fully immunized.
