How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant for $1,000 was used for basic health care of the dogs in our care.

Each dog who comes into our care, we give basic dog/puppy shots to ensure their health and the health of each animal in the shelter. This, at our cost, is $10 per animal. Furthermore, some dogs come to us with other medical needs, such as Demadex mange, which is curable but is a deterrent to potential adopters until the animal is healed.

Speckles was recently transferred to us from Animal Control with a skin condition called Demodex. This a pretty little female Catahoula leopard dog, who was about 13 weeks old, was much prettier once she was completely healed.
