Five Freedoms Farm: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Atticus, a senior diabetic cat.

We were able to cover $185.46 in food and diabetes care for Atticus as well as his $200 adoption fee. The remaining funds were not used by the adopter and we were given permission to apply them to three other foster dogs' adoption fees! (Autumn, Sally, and Morty)

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Atticus, a beautiful senior Maine coon from Animal Control, was in our care from April 26-Sept. 7, 2021. He was very ill and thin when we first took him in but was able to make steady progress over time. We treated his diabetes with daily blood-glucose checks, insulin injections, and a special diet. Regular checkups with our veterinarian allowed us to tailor the amount of insulin he needed to get him regulated. Atticus was pure love, one of the most affectionate cats we’ve ever rescued! He was adopted on Sept. 7 by a young woman who was delighted to welcome him into her life.
