Sweet Sophia was terrified when she came into our care. This elderly girl was placed in our play yard with a few other dogs. She was underweight, suffering from heartworm disease, and she can hardly see. We treated her for heartworm, fed her well, and comforted her. But the fact that she couldn’t see well left her feeling confused and overwhelmed. Sophia shook, cowered, and wouldn’t come near anyone … until we paired her up with Rose. Immediately, Sophia and Rose bonded, and Rose helped Sophia gain back her confidence. Now, Sophia is sweet and friendly, and happy to have Rose by her side. We took care of both girls, gave them baths, and made sure they were nice and comfortable, with warm blankets. When they were ready to be adopted, we made sure these dear friends went to the same loving home together, where they now spend their days snuggled up next to each other or with their loving family. Our Petfinder Foundation grant makes care like this and other happy endings possible.
