Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kong toys provided were used for canine enrichment. This allowed our residents to focus their attention and stimulate their minds.

The toys provided hours of enrichment for our canines. Most of our residents have been long-term and were becoming bored and acting out in their kennels. After receiving the Kong toys, most calmed down to where they were able to be adopted out or make their way to foster care.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Baxter (first three photos), a long-time resident, was becoming bored in his kennel and he would act out by trying to bite. Once he was introduced to the Kong toys, he was able to redirect his boredom to the toys. They kept him calm while he was in his kennel and he was able to be placed in a foster home, where he continued to enjoy his Kongs. He has since been adopted!
