Washington Wilkes Animal Shelter: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed Mack to have an emergency amputation of his back leg, which was broken when he was hit by a car. Mack was a young, very adoptable dog who needed medical care so he could be placed up for adoption. The amputation was a success and Mack was subsequently adopted by a family.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Mack was a young shar-pei mix who was hit by a car after getting out of his yard. He had a family, but they were unable to pay the vet costs for an amputation and he was surrendered to the animal shelter.

His leg was broken in three places and the solution was an amputation.

Once he received treatment and his leg healed, he was placed up for adoption. He was adopted by a family with several small children and he fit in right from the beginning.
