The Cat Network, Inc: Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratchers Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the Cats R Cool Stretch and Scratch cat scratcher for our 4th quarter adoption promotions. We distributed these to our 5 participating Petsmart venues and our 4 Petco venues to place in the cage space for each adoptable animal. rnWe have sent in pictures from our Petsmart Midtown location showing the cat scratchers being used by the cats in that adoption venue

We were able to better showcase out adoptable cats and kittens in the Petsmart and Petco venues. It gave each adoptable something to do. Not only does it make the cat look more attractive, it shows more of their personality and also keeps the cat less stressed. This in turn means less of a chance of the cat getting sick at the adoption venue.

How many pets did this grant help?

We were able to adopt almost 175 cats from mid November when we received the award through the end of December 2013.

The cats at Petsmart Midtown, whose pictures we previously submitted, were a smash at the 4th quarter promotions we did at the adoption venue. The scratchers were entertaining not only for the cats on display for adoption but for the people who came to the venues to llok at the adoptable cats.rnHaving something for the cats to do in their cage, instead of being bored, makes them much more adoptable. They are less stressed and more sociable.
