Pawsitive Kids Camp, Inc.: Build-A-Bear Youth Humane Education Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This generous grant allowed us to purchase supplies for camps to reduce the registration costs to families! The supplies were for the child and canine campers!

The grant provided for at least 18 dogs to attend camp with their child pair. The dogs learned puppy manners while helping the children work on self-esteem, behavior-management, and more. This made the dogs more adoptable in the eyes of the rescue we partnered with and the public!

How many pets did this grant help?

18

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This is just one of many stories we could share! Cider is a dog who came into rescue with severe Demodex. He was “unwanted” at the shelter but saved by Brooke’s Legacy. He had barely any hair on him and was in need of medication and TLC (see him “before,” third photo, and “after,” first and second photos). He was able to get the medical attention he needed, a loving foster home, and then got to attend camp. This allowed for him to enhance his puppy manners, get more exposure to the community and ultimately get adopted!
