Cat Depot: Purina and Amazon Treats for the Holidays Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received a Friskies Party Mix Cat Treats Product Grant from the Petfinder Foundation, and the treats have been used to brighten the lives of homeless cats in our care. Actually, we still have some left from this generous donation, and the cats look forward to treat time every day!

On an average day, we have between 120 and 140 cats living at Cat Depot. They may vary in size and appearance, but they have one thing in common: They all love treats. When "treat-o'clock" comes, the cats gather by the doors to their pods, waiting eagerly -- and we'd better have something to give them!

We normally rely on donations from the community. With this generous grant, neither humans nor cats have had to worry about the shelves being empty.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Chester (first photo) is a lovable guy just waiting for that special someone to come and take him home. He meows that he looks forward to Party Mix every day, and that the treats help him stay perky while he tries to charm potential ‘dopters. Chester’s profile on Petfinder can be seen here:

L.E. Phant (second photo) was left behind in a home when a roommate moved out, and came to Cat Depot. She says the daily treats have helped her adjust to life in the shelter, and that the treats give all the kitties something to look forward to. She also enjoys watching TV and sitting on a purrson’s lap. Her profile on Petfinder can be found here:

Harper’s purrson went to a nursing home, and he was left on his own for four months. A caretaker stopped by every day to tend to his needs, but couldn’t stay with him because of allergies. This lack of company made him shy, but he loves Party Mix, and the treats help him gather courage to approach people. He hopes to find a ‘dopter and be out of the shelter soon. Handsome Harper (third photo) has a profile here:
