St. Francis Society: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

St. Francis Society was fortunate to have received a $4,000 grant award from the Petfinder Foundation and Kia. At the end of the summer, we saw a slowdown in feline adoptions, so beginning Sept. 1, we used this grant to encourage the adoption of pairs of cats and kittens.

When adopting two felines, adopters were only required to pay the adoption fee of one and received the second adoption for "free." We are happy to report that the grant resulted in 46 pairs (92) of BOGO kitty friends being adopted!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Two kittens’ lives that were forever changed because of the Petfinder Foundation/Kia grant are Cat Calloway and Billie Meowiday. At just four weeks old, these two kittens were found alone outside by a concerned citizen (first photo). The finder had no idea what to do and came into one of our PetSmart adoption centers during an event, begging for help. St. Francis took the kittens into our rescue and provided them the love and care they desperately needed.

After several weeks of TLC, the brother and sister were vetted and ready for adoption. Within a couple weeks, they found a loving forever home together utilizing the Petfinder Foundation/Kia grant program (second photo).

We are so appreciative to have been able to offer our adopters an incentive to adopt a second kitty. Not only is it better for kittens to have a playmate, it helped encourage additional adoptions for us during a very slow time. Thank you for allowing us to participate; we are truly grateful for your partnership.

We’ve also included a few other photos of some happy double adoptions under the Petfinder Foundation/Kia grant.
