Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort, Inc.: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The funds were used to supplement adoption fees for situations in which a qualified candidate was identified for a specific animal and it was likely the animal might require medical care after the adoption.

Every pet successfully adopted also gives us the ability to rescue another animal in need. This grant enabled us to get some of our more difficult-to-place animals adopted.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Lil’ Boots came to the shelter several years ago with two siblings who were subsequently adopted. Lil’ Boots is a very loving cat, but he is sometimes shy when meeting new humans, which was a challenge when potential adopters were visiting and wanted to meet him. The volunteers worked with him every day and he gradually became more approachable.

Finally the right human came along and chose Lil’ Boots as their furry companion, but as he was now an older cat, we knew he may need medical care later in life. So we were able to reduce his adoption fee with that in mind.
