How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Through the Kia Pet Adoption Grant, 17 senior dogs found their forever homes! This grant has helped some of our senior dogs find the loving homes that they deserve in which to live out their final years.

Senior animals have a difficult time finding homes, as adopters are more drawn to puppies and kittens, especially with kitten season being in full swing. Because of your support, these 17 special senior dogs quickly found their perfect homes.

Gizmo (first photo) is a 10-year-old Pekingese dog who found his way into our shelter on June 24, 2022.

Like many senior dogs who are owner-surrenders, Gizmo was needing a dental and some additional medical care. Our shelter veterinarian was able to perform a dental and extract a couple of his teeth.

After about a month, Gizmo was ready to find his home. With the adoption special, his perfect match walked through the door and fell in love (second photo). His adopter was also a senior (65+) and, through this grant, was able to receive 75% off of Gizmo’s adoption fee.

They are both happy as could be and we can’t thank you enough for supporting Gizmo’s journey to finding that happiness.
