Suncoast Humane Society: Stretch and Scratch Cat Scratchers Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

It was part of our enrichment program. We put the cat scratchers in all the cages and in our open cattery. We also gave them out to feline adopters.

This grant helped the felines in our care. Many of the cats are in crates and are not on the floor in our open cattery. These Stretch & Scratch scratchers were wonderful for these cats. They used them daily and you could see how much they enjoyed them.

How many pets did this grant help?

We currently have 64 adoptable cats.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

One of our longest feline residents is Baby Girl. She has been here a little over a year. She is a sweet, lovely cat who can be a bit independent. For this reason, she did not get along on the floor of our open cattery. Even though our cat cuddlers visited with her daily, she sometimes seemed a little down. When we installed the Stretch and Scratch in her cage she actually brightened up. She uses it all the time and it seems to boast her spirits. When she finds her forever home, she will be taking her Stretch and Scratch with her.
