Compassion Kind Foundation: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We received the 2019 KONG toy grant and were able to provide our dogs of all sizes with a KONG toy to help with teething for puppies and chewing for older dogs who are learning not to be destructive.

This grant was so helpful to our pups both in our shelter in Puerto Rico and our foster homes in the Tampa Bay area! We brought some KONGs to the shelter for the dogs there to enjoy and some went with fosters to help with teething and chewing while in foster care. Our dogs got to enjoy a fun toy that was super helpful for their chewing needs!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The KONGs provided great entertainment and chewy toys for our dogs while in the shelter and in foster! At the time, all of the dogs in our care got to enjoy them, and the great thing about having them in foster care is that most of our dogs are former strays who are learning how to adapt to a home environment. KONGs provided a great distraction when they were learning not to be destructive! All of the pups who originally got to enjoy the KONGs were adopted and while some of the KONGs left with adopters to enjoy, we still have some left in the shelter as fun toys for new rescues as they come in!
